Ambitious Britons undeterred by the UK's unsupportive environment

SMEs believe the UK is an unsupportive environment for small business and entrepreneurialism according to a new study released by AXA today. Despite the Prime Minister's pledge to put small business at the top of the agenda at the last Labour Party Conference, SMEs seem unconvinced by his promise. Nearly half of respondents (48%) believe the UK is not supportive of SMEs, even though the small business community generates 52% of private sector turnover, and employs 12.6 million people.

Criminals who target business: hit them where it hurts

AXA supports recent calls for more effective punishment to counter the increasing threat of business crime. The insurer's latest research* shows a startling 19 per cent increase in its crime related settlements for businesses and, according to a study conducted by the British Chambers of Commerce, two thirds of businesses have been victims of crime.
